Fortunately for the students of the future, trends in education are cyclical, and some time down the track there will be a realisation that education is important in its own right, and that we need to recognise far more the benefits to not just the individual, but society overall, of a strong and critical education system in all its parts.  And there will be a swing back to education for many reasons not just for jobs in a market.

Linda Simon

Spokesperson for TCA

Linda Simon has been a school teacher, TAFE teacher and now teaches at the University of Technology Sydney in the school of Adult Education.  For most of her working life she has been an active union member holding positions such as Secretary of the TAFE Teachers Association for over 15 years, and Federal TAFE President with the Australian Education Union for six years.
